Scammers and Rip Off Coaches
Have you ever been on Facebook or Instagram, and stumbled across an eye-catching post telling how you can lose 10 pounds in a week? What about those body wraps that promise you inches off of your waist in only one use. I may only be 22 years old, but I’ve been around the block a few times as far as this fitness thing goes. THEY ARE LIARS!
My Dad always preached to me “Anything worth doing, is worth doing right.” People are so quick to buy things that promise them “quick” results rather than to put in hard work. I see it over and over again. People on social media, and even some in gyms around my area, trying to sell you “quick results.” The only thing they are selling you is a bunch of garbage that will leave you spinning your wheels and sometimes leave you even fatter than before. The results these products give are only temporary. Real fat loss takes time. Your body is comprised mostly of water. Your adipose tissue (Fat Tissue) can hold on to a lot of this water. If your diet is high in sodium and processed foods you are even more likely to be holding onto this adipose water weight.
Body Wraps
When you do one of these body wraps, you are not burning body fat in the 2-3 hours that you have it on. That is water weight being excreted out of your fat tissue. It also compresses the fat tissue, making you appear to be smaller than you really are. You can spend $50-70 on these wraps just to lose water weight and compress that fat around your midsection if you like wasting money. But a $5 box of saran wrap will give you the same effect. I’m not endorsing that, nor am I saying to go wrap yourself in saran wrap! I take no responsibility if you decide to be stupid. Back to the point, no wrap will do for you what a solid training and nutrition plan will.
Self-Proclaimed Coaching Gurus
Next we move on to the fake coaches. Fake coaches plague the Internet, their main focus being promoting themselves via social media. Anybody can dress him or herself up and make themselves appear to be something they are clearly not. Just because you restrict your calories and start walking periodically and lose some weight, doesn’t mean that you need to coach other people. It has taken me years to figure out my body. I’m still discovering things daily about the way it works. When you coach a client, it is a combination of science, personal knowledge, and trial and error. A client has to learn their body along side myself. Once you figure out your “sweet spot” you can really make some dramatic changes in short periods of time. But with people being different, this sweet spot generally isn’t the same. It might take a week, but it could take a month. That’s why as a coach you have to individualize every single client. Too many of these coaches give clients the exact same meal plan. These cookie cutter plans only set clients up for failure and can mess up metabolisms. My goal as a coach is to make a clients metabolism as fast as possible. That means consuming the most amount of calories possible, while still losing fat if that is the end goal.
To wrap this up, there are a lot of advertised short cut floating around out there on the internet. But I promise you, the quickest way to lasting results is a proper diet and exercise regimen. Put in the work now, and the results will last you years to come.
